Class of 2001 (10 year reunion!)

Now that I've had a chance to recover (physically and emotionally) I can tell you all about my high school reunion last night. It was actually a lot more fun then I thought it was going to be. I was SUPER nervous so I started off with a glass of champagne....followed by three two more glasses.

I hung out with these pretty ladies most of the night, these girls were my bestest in high school, and still to this day.

Amy (from Dandelion Paperweight), Me, Laura, Roxanne

I waited until the last minute to find something to wear.
I found this little number the night before the reunion at Kohls, $24.99.

After my dosing of liquid courage I was definitely enjoying myself. I talked to most of the people I wanted to talk to, and successfully avoided a few others. I was surprised actually at how many people stopped me to say hello (some of which I didn't think remembered me so I wouldn't have approached them first, but they totally came by to say hi). Isn't that funny how you always think someone won't remember you, but they always end up saying something to you first? Just me?

My preggo friend Mary who was my best friend when I was 12. Isn't she cute?

My friend Lauren (Lauren West Photography), Cristie, and Casey.

Laura and her hubby Scott.

My friend Chris who was my drinking buddy back in the day.

Matt (previous roomie and close friend) with my hubby.
He's known Andy since day 1!

I'm going to admit that I drank a little faster and a little more than I anticipated. I never drink so I don't exactly have a tolerance anymore. I was anxious mixed with excitement for a night out sans Carter. I don't think I said or did anything embarrassing last night, but not quite sure. I did wake up with a horrible champagne hangover (the worst kind), and I am now reminded why I never drink.

Chasing after a two year-old while nursing a hangover is just the worst feeling ever.

All in all it was a great night. I had second thoughts about going, but really, we're all adults now and I know I would have regretted not going if I stayed home. It's worth the fog I'm in today.

I'm contemplating taking up drinking more often as I was taken care of by Andy all day with Gatorade, food, cheesy movies (I chose Groundhogs Day). He allowed me to take a nap AND I was off poopy diaper duty (well, except for one). Kidding, I'm not totally serious about taking up drinking, but I'm glad Andy was there for me today. I told him I owe him one in the future.

We all need to let a little steam off once and a while, right?

OH! Almost forgot. So I was introduced to this show called Workaholics on Comedy Central a few weeks ago, and I'm obsessed. Andy and I downloaded the first season on iTunes and would watch the episodes in bed every night for a week until we finished it. It's a little raunchy, but totally our sense of humor. So last night at 10pm, the bar / lounge that our reunion was at (Station Hollywood at the W Hotel in Hollywood - swanky, yes), opened up to the general public. While I was drunk catching up with old friends, Andy pulled me aside excitedly and told me he saw one of the actors from Workaholics there. Normally I would have gawked from afar, but because I was a bit tipsy, I grabbed my camera and Andy and marched right up to him. His name is Blake Anderson, and he is MY favorite character from the show. He plays this funny, sensitive awkward guy, with poofy hair, a funny mustache who always wears funny patterned type shirts. He was dressed like that when we saw him; I wondered if he is like this in real life, or they just finished filming? Season 2 does start Sept. 20th. I told Blake I was at our 10 year high school reunion, that I was a HUGE fan of the show, and that I was a little drunk.
He was super nice at the time, but I think I creeped him out.

Picture proof:

Blake Anderson from Workaholics and I.

And then 20 minutes later or so, I saw another guy from the show with him (who happens to be my 2nd fav guy from the show, Adam Devine). They use their names in real life as the names of their characters on the show. I of coarse had to stop and talk to Adam, but Blake promptly walked away when he saw me coming (oops). I think I scared him off.

Adam was really nice and told me his reunion is coming up next year, and took a picture with us.

Roxanne, Adam Devine from Workaholics, Me, Andy

We arrived at my parents house around 1am (wow, normally I'm in bed by 9pm so this was a stretch). I fully expected my mom to bring Carter down to our room (we were sleeping over), but she didn't. We didn't see Carter until this morning, he slept right in between his Grammie and Grandpa all night!

All in all, it was a great night! I probably wouldn't change a thing (except for sharing a vodka cranberry with Roxanne at the end of the night, oy).

Roxanne and I all dolled up ready to go with my little sis Nichole who wanted to jump in for a picture.

Did you (or will you) go to your high school reunion?

Today I love ..

  • This new site that I keep hearing about Hello Giggles. It was created by fun females (including Zooey Deschanel who I love) as an "ultimate entertainment destination for smart, independent, and creative females." Um, hello, ME! Or at least what I pretend to be. Ha.
  • This picture on negativity and how it affects us. Found here.
  • Pinterest! I can't wait until I can get a free couple of hours and can pin some more. I've already started an idea board for Carter's 2nd Birthday. Amy (over at Dandelion Paperweight) whom I adore and is one of my closest friends IRL, sent me the cutest idea for a Monster Themed Birthday and I really, really want to use it. After thinking about it though, Carter is just obsessed with all things Mickey Mouse and we might go with it because its more 2 year-old appropriate it. I don't think we can get away with doing a Mickey Mouse theme party when he's older and since he is still baby-ish, we might as well do something baby-ish. I definitely want to use the Monster idea another year, if Amy doesn't use it first. :)
  • My Birthday! I love Birthdays, although I'm sure I won't always. 28 is my absolute favorite number (it's lucky too!) and I'm turning 28 this year. I have a bunch of celebrations planned and I also am going away for two nights with my boys. I *know* this is going to be a good year for me. It's my one chance at 28, let's make it awesome please.
That's all for now, I know there is a whole lot more I love right now but work calls!

H A L L O W E E N

Happy Halloween!!!

We had a wonderful 1st Halloween for Carter. Ok, well not exactly his first. Last year he was 1 month old and we went to a Halloween party at my parents house. This was his FIRST Halloween Trick Or Treating and really getting into Halloween spirit. It was a nice relaxing day after the craziness of last week. I made some pumpkin rolls (not sure if I would make them again, they were ok, not amazing). I squeezed in a cardio class, then went to my parent's house where I cooked my Roast Chicken, helped with the mashed potatoes, my dad made Chateubriand with bernaise sauce and my mom cooked roasted brussel sprouts and carrots. I topped my whole plate off with some delish gravy I made, and my oh my. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. It's one of my favorite meals.

Then we headed to Amy's house for some trick, treating and treats. She had such a cute Halloween display out. I think Carter thought Trick or Treating was...interesting. I know he was having fun, but more like what the hell are we doing Mom? And why are these strangers giving me candy. I hope he doesn't think he can get candy from strangers ALL the time. Oh geez. He was in a slightly bratty mood because he didn't get his full late afternoon nap, so he was a mix of tired and on a sugar high.

He got very protective of his candy and his candy bucket and refused to let me hold it. He threw a tantrum or two when I tried to carry it for him as it got heavy. Man, trick or treating was a work-out in itself. We practically had to carry him to each door, and if we did set him down it was chase chase chase. But he seemed to get a kick out of it and we did too. We made sure he picked out all the good candy for mommy & daddy. We did let him have a few pieces.

He actually got into his candy after work today and I thought he'd be fine but I think the sugar is just starting to kick in. When my parents used to tell me I'd be bouncing off the walls if I ate sugar, I never really fully believed them. Now I do. I just returned from my Pilates Cardio Class (I know, two days in a row, right? Yay me!) And Carter is literally BOUNCING around. As I type this he is humming and JUMPING all over me and is laughing at practically nothing. Right now its really cute and amusing, but in another 10 minutes it ain't gonna be so cute anymore.

Work is getting better, I'm still not caught up, but I think I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I just need to get plugging away and knocking things off my list one by one.

Tomorrow I NEED to get my list done. NEED TO. I need some wonder woman power or something. I hope I can get to work ON TIME, and manage to get some voting in.
Tomorrow is Election DAY! Go Meg Whitman!!

Ok, here are some lovely pictures of Carter's Halloween Adventures:

Daddy and Carter. I think Daddy is a Beatle?
Or Daddy wearing a wig. Cute.
Carter grabbing some candy at his very first house of the night!

Not sure what the point of this was. So here is a beautiful picture of my baby boy and husband Andy. I love my little family!

And I would like to give a shout out to Amy, my only reader. :) Love you!
